kitchikan ...paalam

9 september , friday ...my last day in kitchikan ...and what do you know ?  ,,,the sun is out and will be out all week end ....the economy will pick up ...tourist out ...tour guides raking $$ everywhere.... shops with end of season clearance ... but me ... not in the mood to shop ... the end of the shopping era for me ... not even magnet for my dear sister C
matanuska ...ferry leaves for prince rupert tonight ... arriving around 5a....
debating whether i should get a cabin ...
most likely .. i won't
i already spent the $ for manicure pedicure  this morning...
had it been a davao mani / pedi .. the $ will last my entire stay ... disgusting !
i need to have ugly nails until i get back to davao ...lol !

back i n kitchikan

arrived 3am on the 6th , a tuesday
wow ! the sea was rough from wrangell narrow  to the terminal in kitchikan .. the ferry was making all sorts of noise ... 'dancing' widly with the waves
today  ,7th ...rain ..reall heavy downpour ... 3 cruise ships docked ..tourist all around the stores ...road  construction   has some segment of the road  close to the Diaz cafe backed up with cars ...
i am catching a cold ..sniffles ... took my old fav ...mucus relief + tylenol ....

bought the ferry ticket for prince rupert, canada
no cabin
will rough up it out ... 
all these travel experiences are exploratory ... will rent blanket at the purser's office
MATANUSKA  again ...9:45pm departure on friday 
arriving prince rupert ..5a...
immigration ...then i have to take a cab to downtown ... viarail canada or the bus terminal ... to calgary ...
visiting momie ....
rain ... rain ...rain ....

wet wet wet juneau

i will be leaving for kitchikan tomorrow afternoon ....2 nights at the hostel ...it was a great experience ...old folks do stay in the hostel ,,,lol ! the juneau hostel is nice .. has a homey  feel ...all guest must take shoes off ... each guest signs in for a chore ..as in vacumn ,clean bathroom ,etc...hostel is open 5p...
and all guest are to leave hostel @9a...for $10 ..you follow all rules ....it was a lively evening last night ... a large group of students with their professors checked in ..archealogy ..from seattle ??
there was a lady from bejing ..lives in montana , widow of 6 yrs, age 66.. very  friendly ..there is hostel in china ..tianemen square ...hmmm....
she is headed to bejing soon ..to be with elderly mother ....
the 2 of us are now in the alaskan hotel ... i moved because it would be a problem for me to out at 9a.. check out in the the hotel is 11a and i could leave my  luggage till 1p
made reservation for taxi to come at 1p ...
ferry leaves @3p ..and 18 hours later ..will be kitchikan
...will check  schedule for prince rupert ... 
manang clara is leaving for seattle on the 9th ... 
MENDENHALL  glacier
i took the city bus to the tongas natioanl forest and hiked 1 1/2 miles to the visitor center ..to see the glacier ..awesome
but i was alone in the walk ..with the drizzle i was anxious ... it was a quick look and walk back tot he bus stop
not much of juneau  sightseeing ..too wet ... did not go the tram ..soggy ..very hazy day ...
TABACHOY... more caloric intake than  caloric exhaustion ... maybe i get to move more in calgary , canada
i am learning ..but has failed marks in posting pictures .. be patient
do you think the light  bulb will be on in my lifetime?
more  travel comments later .. no internet in the ferry....

I am in haines, alaska
like you don't know which state i am in ..lol !!!!!!!!!!!!!
from juneau i took a another ferry ride >> haines
i return to juneau tomorrow  ..3p

no rain in haines
small town .. everything walking distance
one   cruise ship ..only on wed

i tgets expensive with bed n breakfast + meals
so i am not doing tours at all
this is exploratory ... just getting a feel
for what i should do next time
... summer
crowded but i do not have to deal with borrowed heavy winter outfits ...

the alaska ferry in the INSIDE PASSAGE is nice , inexpensive
but you must not rushed for time
you have the time .. the beauty of alaska is for you
on a ferry or if you have the money
..on a cruise ship
