Ketchikan

the rain is elsewhere this wednesday morning in kitchikan ... ms. clara noble diaz, proprietor of the DIAZ CAFE &  her crew busy getting ready for the day's work ...chopping , slicing + a whole lot more of their daily chore ...
just finished toast with egg ...rushing to enjoy company of cora & the sun ...be back after a brief tour of the area before cora is needed back to be a waitress in the diaz cafe ..

    How long has Diaz Cafe been there in Ketchikan? Is it right next to where all the cruise ships and ferry's dock? How about the weather? No rain today? Seems like Diaz Cafe is something right out of the old CBS show called Northern Exposure. Are there lots of locals in the cafe or mostly visitors passing through heading up to northern Alaska? Post pics when you can!

    DIAZ cafe ...owned by Clara Noble Diaz's mother n law ...the lady was from Cebu ...she gave her restaurant to Manuel && Clara Diaz when her health started failing ....
    the cafe has been operational since early 50's... the patrons do not want changes in the menu or even with the format of the menu . It's really something ..the servins are generous and with plenty rice ...they eat it all .. hamburger has rice with gravy onb the side ...imagine that !

    Thursday , 25th of August ...sunny day ... it is really perfect for the walking tour ...but chores in the cafe are endless ... it is a family run restaurant ..
    Rudy started as dish washer and now he's the big guy ...
    Arnel ,his brother is chef # 1
    Lito , a nephew , is chef # 2
    manang Clara greets customer
    Cora , Rudy's wife is the cafe's temporary waitress ...It's Cora's birthday today
    we just finished eating Palabok prepared by the birhtday celebrant ..
    fried chicken prepared by arnel
    for dessert we had biko

    Wow it really is a family run business! They sound like good people. Will have to add it places to see one day. How's the rest of your trip? What did you do yesterday? See anything cool or just hanging out in the cafe? Keep up the stories and sharing with us!
